Dr Aaron P. Jackson is a public servant in the Australian Department of Defence. He is currently Influence Effects and Decision-Making research team leader within Defence Science and Technology Group. Immediately prior to this appointment, he was Senior Researcher Joint Planning and Design. He has deployed as a Defence Civilian on Operation Accordion (Middle East region). In his secondary employment, Major Jackson has been a serving member of the Australian Army Reserve since 2002. This this role, he has deployed on Operations Astute (peacekeeping in Timor Leste), Resolute (Australian border security), Okra (building partner capacity in Iraq) and COVID-19 Assist (support to domestic emergency response). Aaron holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (International Relations) and has an ongoing research focus on defence and military studies, operational art, international relations and military design thinking. He has held numerous academic appointments, most recently as Academic Year 2018-19 Distinguished Visiting Professor of Defence Studies at Canadian Forces College.
