Oliver Jones

Oliver Jones is a senior researcher at AOD, and a doctoral candidate in the English department of York University in Toronto, on course to defend his dissertation this spring. Oliver’s doctoral research breaks ground by attempting to construct a bridge between war studies and literary studies.

His dissertation, “Literary Friction: Poetics at the Operational Level of War” explores literary and philosophical texts connected to the Israeli school of military design in order to understand how narratives, poetic devices and literary practices have been mobilized to support innovation in defense organizations, from TE Lawrence to the present day.

He is a runner, a dog person, a gamer, and a connoisseur of all things heavy metal, punk and rock and roll.

The article “What is Strategic Design”, which he co-authored with fellow AOD members Ofra Graicer and Philippe Dufort, is out in the current issue of She-Ji: the journal of design, economics and innovation.
