AOD’s Member of the Week:
Dr. Ben Zweibelson is a lead educator, theorist and facilitator for Design and Innovation at US Special Operation Command’s (USSOCOM) Joint Special Operations University (JSOU; CTR through METIS).
A retired U.S. Army Infantry officer and veteran of multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ben has provided design education across USSOCOM, the Department of Defense and the U.S. Government, academia and industry as well as internationally for the past decade. In addition to developing the family of design courses and design meta-methodology for SOCOM design outreach and application, Ben has lectured at multiple war colleges such as the US Air War College, National Defense University, Marine Corps University, the Swedish, Danish, Dutch, US Marine, and Polish War Colleges, the Canadian Forces College, SAASS, SAMS, NATO-ACT, the National Counterterrorism Center, the NATO School, the USAF Squadron Officer School, as well as numerous design conferences and workshops.
His work is widely published in leading international military journals and many of those publications are required reading in multiple PME programs for design. Ben has an undergraduate degree (BA in Fine Arts) in Graphic Design from the University of Connecticut, three different Master’s degrees (Louisiana State University, Air Command and Staff College, US Army School of Advanced Military Studies) and a doctorate in Philosophy from Lancaster University (UK).
